The story so far . . .
Bruce & Kathy Walker have been involved in the auto dismantling industry since 1978, when they purchased Kathy’s father’s local wrecking business – Little’s Wrecking (est.1953).
In 1983 they began dismantling 4wd vehicles on a small scale, and by 1986 moved premises and worked exclusively with 4WD parts and accessories. From this humble beginning in 1986 with a staff of 2 they moved to 6 Hall Road in 1995 with a staff of 12!
Many changes in the industry had prompted Bruce & Kathy to create a purpose built premises incorporating as many environmentally aware, recycling and labour saving systems as possible.
In 1997, these efforts were rewarded with the presentation of the Auto Parts Recycling Association of Australia “Beautification of the Industry Award”. Gympie 4WD Spares has also held a 5 star Accreditation with APRAA since the introduction of the rating system. This means Gympie 4WD Spares works hard to maintain a quality business and the best customer service possible.
In 1998, after completing his degree in Business/Accounting, son Ben Walker joined the team and is now managing the business.
In 1999, Bruce and Kathy expanded further and opened a motorcycle dealership, Motorcycle Country (Honda, Yamaha & Kawasaki), which has complemented the 4wd spares & accessories business. Located off the Bruce Highway, Gympie, the two business combine to provide a comprehensive “Work & Play” service.
They now employ over twenty staff, including 7 qualified mechanics.
